Remote Desktop Client (Mac)

Check if you have the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client installed.

Open Finder

In the Finder window, click the Applications Folder and check if Microsoft Remote Desktop application is installed. If it is present, double click it and skip past the install instructions

Connecting to VM using Remote Desktop Client

Click the 3 horizontal bars on the Google Cloud Console. Select Compute Engine

Locate your Windows VM. My example user is workshopuser80@merklinc.com and therefore my Windows VM name is workshopuser-vm-80 and Windows username will be workshopuser80. Highlight the external IP address as shown in the diagram and copy the IP address.

Start the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client

In the popup window, click the New button

In the Edit Remote Desktops window, enter a Connection (just a name so you can identify it).

Paste the IP address as the PC Name

Enter your assigned username (i.e. workshopuser<01-80>)

Enter your assigned GCP Password

Then close the window using the red X button

The connection name you assigned should now appear under My Desktops. Double click it and you should be connected to your Tableau VM
